KANSAS CITY — KANSAS CITY — A 30-year-old Smithville, Mo., man who was the son of a Grandview, Mo., police officer has been identified as the man who died after a struggle in an Arrowhead Stadium parking lot Sunday night. Kyle Van Winkle died at a Kansas City hospital following a fight with at least three other men. However, the hospital told KMBC Channel 9 there’s no obvious cause for Van Winkle’s death. Three men were arrested but have been released. Kansas City police searched an Independence, Mo., home in connection with the investigation. The fight started after Van Winkle was found in a Jeep that wasn’t his.
