GARNETT — After nearly nine years, Anderson County plans to have a delinquent property tax sale next month. The county hopes to recoup some of the $310,000 in past-due taxes, the Anderson County Review reported. The last delinquent property tax sale was held May 2004, although the county had a delinquent mineral rights sale in May 2010. The most recent delay in the upcoming sale came from a lawsuit by a property owner who objected to having his property on the list, the paper reported. The owner argued the house on the property was damaged by fire and he should be given leeway because of the unusual circumstances, but the judge Ruled against him. Approximately 50 properties were on the original tax sale list although that number could fall before the auction.
