GARNETT — A book that isn’t a mystery but is written by one of the top hard-boiled mystery writers will be the focus of the Garnett Public Library’s book discussion next Wednesday night at 7. That book is “Bleeding Kansas” by Sara Paretsky. Paretsky, known for her best-selling mystery novels set in Chicago, has turned to Kansas, her home state, for her latest novel. In “Bleeding Kansas,” Paretsky writes about a farming family whose roots extend back to the territorial fight over slavery. Though times have changed, many of the struggles the family faces, including clashes between neighbors over war and religion, are just as critical. The books are available for checkout at the library. The public is invited.
