KANSAS CITY — A Johnson County woman was sentenced Wednesday to five years in federal prison in connection with the death of her 20-year-old nephew who died from a prescription drug overdose in Garnett. Stacy Ashley, 37, Edgerton, pleaded guilty to one count of distributing oxymorphone, a prescription painkiller, U.S. Attorney Barry Grissom said. Ashley admitted that on July 30, 2011, she gave oxymorphone and amphetamine to Joshua Auclair of Garnett. Auclair’s mother, Tammy Redel, also gave him oxycodone, morphine and alprazolam. He crushed up several pills and snorted the powder. He drifted in and out of consciousness throughout the evening before police and emergency medical personnel were called. He died July 31, 2011, at Anderson County Hospital, Garnett. Redel will be sentenced later.
