PAOLA — Paola fire units and Miami County emergency personnel were called to a train derailment north of Paola this morning. The Union Pacific Railroad called the Miami County 911 emergency dispatch center that one rail car derailed near 295th Street and Hedge Road. The sheriff’s office said one rail car carrying coal derailed and there were no hazardous materials spilled and the railroad worked to get the car back on the track. There was no word on what called the derailment.
