KANSAS CITY — Former Democratic state senator Kelly Kultala, Kansas City, has announced she’s running for the Kansas’ Third Congressional District. She’s the second Democrat to file a challenge to controversial Republican Congressman Kevin Yoder. Political newcomer Reginald Marselus of Lenexa has also filed for the Democratic nomination. The Third District includes parts of Miami County and Johnson and Wyandotte counties. Kultala said she’ll bring values of bipartisanship and problem-solving back to Washington. She has served on the Piper school board, as a commissioner on the Unified Government of Wyandotte County/Kansas City, and as a state senator. She was on the committee that helped set up the state T-Works transportation plan.
