OTTAWA — Janet Peters, Ottawa University development director, received the Russell Crites Award, the top award given by the Ottawa Area Chamber of Commerce, at the chamber’s annual banquet Saturday. Peters has a long list of community activities including serving as a trustee for Ransom Memorial Hospital, serving on the Ottawa Police Foundation, school site councils, and was involved in the effort to bring a YMCA to Ottawa, Chamber president John Coen said. “Certainly if you’ve lived and worked in the community for a long time you’ve crossed paths with Janet because she has been involved in many different facets of our community,” Coen said. Communities in Schools received the Chamber’s Community Builder Award, The Gun Guys received the Entrepreneur of the Year Award, and the Reflective Group, Baldwin City, received the Horizon Award.
