OTTAWA — A Wellsville man who was appealing his previous DUI manslaughter conviction has pleaded no contest to involuntary manslaughter DUI. A Franklin County jury earlier convicted Roger Shaw nearly three years ago of involuntary manslaughter while driving under the influence of alcohol. He killed 21-year-old motorcyclist Aaron Kichler near Shaw’s farm near Wellsville in July 2009. Shaw was originally sentenced to 10 years in prison but successfully appealed his conviction and the Kansas Supreme Court ordered a new trial. That trial had been scheduled for early February. Instead, Shaw’s sentencing will be Feb. 13.
