OTTAWA – The investigation into a Wednesday night house fire at Eighth and Main Street is complete. Investigators say the fire was electrical in nature and damage to the house and its contents is estimated at $300,000. Ottawa City Fire Chief Jeff Carner says the fire was very difficult to fight because the older home had been remodeled several times. The additional layers of sheetrock and an updated HVAC system created additional opportunities for the flames to spread. Carner says the fire started in the inner walls of the living area, and family members that were home made it out without suffering any injuries.
