OTTAWA — Franklin County solid waste director Jon Hiatt is dealing the cardboard and he”s coming up aces. County commissioners have given their blessing to a deal Hiatt has worked out with Greenstuff, an Ottawa company that makes bedding for exotic pets. Greenstuff is offering $200 per ton for cardboard sheets or flattened boxes placed in special open containers. The deal requires a little more extra work for landfill employees but the price is well worth the extra work, Hiatt said. The current price for cardboard is running about $75 to $80 per ton, he said.
