DULUTH, Minn. — Sentencing has been postponed for a Minnesota man who pleaded guilty to kidnapping his ex-wife in Minnesota and robbing the Great Southern Bank in Ottawa. Sentencing had been set for April 10 for Timothy Caskey in U.S. District Court in Minnesota.
However, a federal judge agreed to postpone the sentencing for at least two weeks because Caskey hadn’t seen the pre-sentencing report nor did his attorney have a chance to talk to him about it. The Ottawa robbery case was transferred from U.S. District Court in Kansas City to Minnesota as part of a plea deal. Two years ago, Caskey kidnapped his ex-wife in Minnesota and forced her to accompany him on a cross-country journey from Minnesota to Mexico, where his ex-wife was rescued and he was captured by Mexican state police. During the journey, Caskey robbed the Ottawa bank.
