The top 3 winners in the Pomona City Council election are Dan L. Keith, 69 votes, Rick Smith, 59 votes and Richard Adler, 50 votes. In Miami County, the two school bond issues had easy approval. The USD 368 Bond issue won easy approval with almost 65 percent, and the USD 416 question passed with 67 percent of the vote. Voters approved a $17 million bond issue for Paola USD 368. The bond, which would go into effect as the district paid off other bond issues, will be used for several security and safety improvements at Paola schools as well as improvements to athletic facilities. Voters also approved a one-percent increase in the Louisburg USD 416 Local Option Budget property tax levy. In return, the Louisburg school board will reduce the capital outlay tax correspondingly. Louisburg officials said the shift was needed to plug a $95,000 hold in the general fund budget. The school questions were aided because school officials promised that the elections wouldn’t increase property taxes. In City Races, Osawatomie Council 4, Tamara Maichel wins with almost 91 percent. She ran unopposed. In Paola Council 2 Gee Gee Wilhoite won with almost 75 percent of the vote over Michael Oldfield who got about 25 percent. Paola Council 4, Aaron Nickelson wins with 97 percent because he was unopposed. In Louisburg Council 4, Carol Aust wins easily unopposed, she got almost 94 percent. In the Louisburg Council at Large, Steve Town won with 96 percent of the vote since he was unopposed. In Osawatomie Council 1, Lawrence Dickinson wins unopposed, he received almost 95 percent. In Osawatomie Council 2, John A. Farley won with about 52 percent of the vote to Cristina Ramirez who got 38 percent. Earlier, Ramirez dropped her challenge to Farley after she was appointed to fill an unexpired term on the other Ward 2 city council seat. In Osawatomie Council 3, Karen Laduex won with 54 percent over Mark Marquez who received almost 45 percent. In Anderson County, Gordon Blackie ran unopposed to win a seat on the Garnett City Commission.
