TOPEKA — Crews began grinding rumble strips into the highway shoulders on both sides of the roadway along major highways, the Kansas Department of Transportation said. That includes U.S 59 in Franklin and Douglas counties, and I-35 in Johnson and Lyon counties. KDOT said despite the work, there shouldn’t be any delays although motorists should watch for workers and equipment along the sides of the road. A mobile grinder will move along the shoulders as work progresses. Work will take place daily Monday through Saturday during daylight hours Work is scheduled to be completed late next month.
