OTTAWA — The new Ottawa Price Chopper grocery store will open Thursday morning at 8. After the Queen family of Paola bought the Ottawa Country Mart, it was closed this past weekend for remodelling and new décor, signs, carts, scales and deli equipment. Store hours will be the same: 7 a.m-10 p.m., seven days a week. “Our family is committed to serving the Ottawa community,” said Barry Queen, owner of Queen’s Price Choppers. “We’ll do this by offering high quality products in a friendly atmosphere that focuses on customer service.” The Price Chopper will come with several new food and deli options. During the transition, Price Chopper hired every one of the Country Mart employees, and plans to add 20 to 25 more employees. With the added services and staff, the Queen family is exploring whether to expand the existing facility or move to a new location, but nothing is confirmed at this time.
