OTTAWA — Ottawa University has received a gift of $1.25 million from Sodexo, which operates the university’s food services, for OU’s new dining commons. The new facility will house a state-of-the-art industrial kitchen, food-court-style food service, restaurant-style seating, and an outdoor dining area. There will also be an adjacent concession facility located towards Peoples Bank Field. The new dining commons is part of the Gibson Student Center, now under construction. The gift demonstrates the company’s commitment to OU and is an investment in quality food service, Sodexo general manager Christine Krin said. The new dining facility is scheduled to be completed in August, in time for students’ return for the fall semester. Demolition of Mowbray Union will begin following commencement on May 10. Construction on the new Gangwish Library will begin after that, with a scheduled completion date of August 2015.
