PAOLA — A 56-year-old man was flown to a Kansas City hospital following a one-vehicle accident Sunday afternoon northwest of Paola. 287th Street was closed much of the afternoon because of the accident, which occurred on 287th Street near Osawatomie Road. According to the Miami County Sheriff’s Department, emergency crews found a vehicle in the ditch. They had to cut the driver out of the vehicle. The sheriff’s office said a concrete bridge railing on Osawatomie Road was missing. The man wasn’t immediately identified.
