LAWRENCE — A 20-year-old Eudora woman has been charged with attempted first degree murder and conspiracy to commit first degree murder in connection with the Memorial Day shooting of a motorist on U.S. 59 south of Lawrence. Brittany Nicole Smith is the second person to be charged in connection with the shooting and wounding of Skylar Workman, Lawrence. Workman has been recuperating in an area hospital. Charges against the first person arrested in the case, Edward “E.J.” Parker, have been changed to attempted first degree murder and conspiracy to commit first degree murder, Douglas County Sheriff’s Lt. Steve Lewis said. Lewis said the pair are in the Douglas County jail without bond. They may be in court as soon as this afternoon, he said.
