OTTAWA – One day after Ottawa University laid off 18 individuals, all is quiet, starting at the top. According to a statement sent out from the University, the layoffs were made as part of a financially prudent move. An additional statement sent to KOFO News said that the eliminated and consolidated positions were very broad based, with no more than one or two within a department or function area. Ottawa University Public Relations originally told KOFO News that President Kevin Eichner would be available for comment on Friday morning, but it later said that Eichner had been “called away.” KOFO News also attempted to speak to those who had been aid off, however, one of them said that they cannot speak to the media as a condition of receiving their severance packages.
