OTTAWA — The Franklin County Conservation District board is working to set up a tire collection day for Franklin County. A tire collection day is still in the early planning stages and there’s no guarantee that a collection will occur, the conservation district’s Keri Harris said. However, she said the district is asking people who want to get rid of tires for free or little cost to come to the conservation district office in south Ottawa and complete a sign-up sheet before Aug. 1. Sign-up sheets are also available on-line at www.fccdks.org and can be printed and delivered or mailed to the office. To complete the sign-up sheet, you must list the type and exact number of tires you wish to dispose of. All tires must be off rims. She said you must complete the sign-up sheet if you wish to take part in the proposed tire collection.
