DULUTH, Minn. — Following last week’s sentencing hearing in federal court, prosecutors and an attorney for a Minnesota man who robbed the Great Southern Bank in Ottawa continue to swap documents this week. Timothy Caskey has pleaded guilty to kidnapping his ex-wife and robbing the Ottawa bank three years ago. Caskey kidnapped his ex-wife in Minnesota and forced her to accompany him on a cross-country journey to Mexico. He robbed the Ottawa bank during the trip. She was rescued when he was captured by Mexican state police. Under a plea deal, the case involving the bank robbery in Ottawa was moved to federal court in Duluth, Minn., where the kidnapping case was being handled. Before working on a plea deal, Caskey’s attorneys had been working on an insanity defense.
