LANE — A 32-year-old Rantoul man is in the Franklin County jail connection with a shooting late Wednesday night near Lane. Jacob Leach was booked into the jail early this morning on suspicion of aggravated assault and aggravated battery, Sheriff Jeff Richards said. A 52-year-old man was hospitalized after being shot, Richards said. The shooting occurred in the the 1100 block of Vermont Terrace just north of Lane. Members of the Franklin and Miami county sheriffs’ departments, Kansas Highway Patrol, and Ottawa police were involved in the investigation and search for the suspect, he said.
