OTTAWA–You would be surprised at how misinformed many people are when it comes to how important agriculture is to the Kansas economy. Kansas Secretary of Agriculture Jackie McClaskey told the Franklin County Farm Bureau’s annual meeting that an economist recently informed her that agriculture only makes up 2% of the Kansas economy. The real number is over 40%.
