OSAWATOMIE – Because of a water main break at about 8 p.m. Sunday, the city of Osawatomie issued a boil-water advisory. After completing the repairs to the large supply line and after consultation with the Kansas Department of Health and Environment, the advisory was lifted at 10 p.m., two hours after the boil order was issued. The city said the boil order was a precautionary step following pressure loss in the water system. The city says the amount of water lost was large enough to cause a pressure drop in the system to trigger an alert. However, after talking with KDHE officials, it was determined that the water pressure loss wasn’t enough to compromise water quality. The city said the water is safe to drink and use.
