TOPEKA — Coffey County Attorney Douglas Witteman has been named by Gov. Sam Brownback to be the next district judge for the 4th District Court. Witteman will fill the vacancy created by the retirement of Judge Thomas Sachse. Witteman, LeRoy, brings a strong depth of legal knowledge and experience to the bench, Brownback said. Before he became a Coffey County attorney, he was a private-practice attorney for two Wichita law firms. A nominating committee submitted the names of Witteman and Anderson and Osage County Attorney Brandon Jones to Brownback. The 4th Judicial District includes Anderson, Coffey, Franklin, and Osage counties.
