WASHINGTON — A rare sky event, the second total lunar eclipse of the year, begins Wednesday morning at approximately 3:15, with the nearly hour-long total eclipse to start at 5:25. Those in western North America will have the best view of the total eclipse. The total eclipse is the start of a big month for skywatchers. One of the year’s best meteor showers, the Orionids, will peak overnight on Oct. 21 and 22. NASA said the Orionids showers could feature lots of fireballs and long fiery trails. And the next day, a partial solar eclipse of up to two-thirds of the sun’s surface will occur the evening of Oct. 23. Those in western North America will have the best view of the eclipse.
