TOPEKA – Now that you’re being pummeled with commercials for Christmas shopping, two sales outlets quietly offer some kansas gifts in unusual locations. The Capitol Store at the Statehouse and the Museum Store at the Kansas Historical Society in Topeka offer a variety of items inspired by Kansas or done by Kansans. That includes sunflower glassware, pottery, paintings, children’s books, souvenirs, food, and gift baskets at both locations. The Capitol Store also offers copper jewelry and collectibles created from historic copper removed from the Capitol’s dome. Many Kansas-made items can also be purchased online at store.kshs.org. Proceeds go to the historical society.
