OTTAWA — Meals on wheels needs volunteers at the Ottawa Senior Center. The program is extremely short on volunteers to deliver meals on Fridays, Mid-America Nutrition’s Chris Bean, said. Volunteers are needed for about one hour, from 11 to noon. She said volunteers are the backbone of Meals on Wheels programs across the country. Not only do they prepare and deliver meals to home-bound seniors in their local communities, they also provide the seniors with companionship when they arrive at the door, she said.
