GARDNER — A 53-year-old Gardner woman who was shot and killed by Gardner police in her home Thursday night has been identified as Deanne Choate. Olathe police, who have been helping with the investigation of the shooting, say Choate’s boyfriend called 911 and reported she had fired a handgun inside the home in the 400 block of North Birch Street. The two Gardner officers fired at the woman when they arrived, Olathe police said. She died at the scene. Both Gardner officers have been placed on paid administrative leave.
