OTTAWA — The Franklin County Sheriff’s Department received several theft reports just prior to the weekend. A 60-year-old Williamsburg man reported his silver 1988 Chevrolet 1500 pickup was stolen sometime Thursday night or Friday morning from behind his home in the 100 block of North Center Avenue in Williamsburg. The loss was estimated at $1,000. A 76-year-old Williamsburg man reported Friday afternoon that someone stole his check book from the 400 block of North Center Avenue. A 48-year-old Lane man reported Friday afternoon that someone took his 22-caliber rifle from his father’s property from the 4000 block of Cloud Road west of Lane. The loss was estimated at $250. A 25-year-old Rantoul woman reported someone tried to break into her home in the 2700 block of Vermont Road north of Rantoul Saturday night. The damage to her door was estimated at approximately $250.
