OTTAWA – The 150th annual Franklin County Fair began in earnest today with entries and judging. Some of the judging has been done before the fair, Rebecca McFarland, Frontier Extension District agent said. Indeed, those perusing the 4-H baking and food exhibits will see photos of the winners and their entries. The food was divided up, placed on plates and delivered to police and fire departments and fair supporters, she said. Special commemorative 150th T-shirts will be available at the fair, said Brett Chartier, fair board member. Among fair highlights, the youth rodeo beginning today at 5, the two-day URA Professional Rodeo Thursday and Friday nights at Hayward Arena; the annual fair barbecue 5-8 p.m. Thursday, the Farm Bureau pedal pull noon Saturday, and the demolition derby 7 p.m. Saturday.
