OSAGE CITY — Osage City police have issued a warning to area businesses about a scam involving the return of propane tanks to businesses. A white man in his 50s has entered several businesses, trying to return propane tanks to receive cash refunds, Osage City police said. However, the tanks are faulty and can’t be reused. The subject managed to more than $50 some businesses, but has been turned away by others. The man has hit Osage City businesses but has been working in other towns throughout Osage County. Police said the man may be driving a red pickup truck.
