PAOLA — A 19-year-old Parker man was killed and his two passengers were seriously injured in a one-vehicle accident lake Sept. 6 at Lake Miola in Paola. Lucas Mort died as a result of injuries he received in the accident . The two passengers were identified as Faythe Theiss, 14, and Kevin Hensley, 18, both of Osawatomie. Paola police said Mort’s car hit a tree. Police were continuing to investigate the accident. Mort graduated from Osawatomie High School this past spring. Friends have established a fund to help pay for Theiss’ medical bills on the web site gofundme.com. Osawatomie city council member Tamara Maichel said local businesses and city employees help prepare for the service. She said the community was already affected by a horse-riding accident that seriously injured another Osawatomie High school Student two days before.
