OTTAWA — AdvancEd, a national accreditation group, has given Ottawa schools good grades.  AdvancEd’s Leonard Paul told the Ottawa school board his inspection team will recommend that the school district receives accreditation for five years.  The recommendation follows a series of inspections, review of documents and procedures, and interviews by an accreditation team and comparing that with other schools, he said.  Paul gave an exit report during a special school board meeting Thursday afternoon.  Paul said the team gave the district high marks for communication among teachers and parents, for its efforts to improve the graduation rates, and for introducing technology into teaching.  However, he gave the district two years to create a more formal structure of managing curriculum improvements, and beef up ways to help students catch up on their math skills.  Ottawa school Supt. Jeanne Stroh said teams have started looking at ways to meet the priorities.
