OTTAWA — An Ottawa man who was the first person to be accused in Franklin County District Court of making marijuana wax has been sentenced to 22 months in prison. Earlier, Mark Whiles pleaded guilty to a lesser drug-making charge as part of a plea deal. Whiles received 22 months for distributing and manufacturing marijuana and another 11 months for possession of drug-manufacturing paraphernalia. The second sentence will be served at the same time he serves the first sentence. A review of his sentence has been scheduled for Oct.15 in Franklin County District Court. Marijuana wax is one of the newer trends in the drug culture. Marijuana wax is a more highly-concentrated and more powerful form of marijuana.
