OTTAWA – City electric officials will soon ask the Ottawa City Commission to approve setting up several solar panels at a city substation. The solar array would become part of the city’s power supply, utilities director Dennis Tharp said. Responding to new federal regulations putting limits on coal-fired power plants, the city has trying to reduce its dependence on energy that comes from coal, he said. Cost of the solar panels would be around $40,000, he said.
