OTTAWA — The Veterans Day Healing Flags along Main Street and in City Park are coming down before Veterans Day. Given the forecast for high winds and severe storms Wednesday morning and afternoon, Veterans Day organizers decided it would be best to remove the flags this afternoon, Harold Mayes said. “We didn’t want to leave the flags up with the wind blowing 50 miles an hour,” he said. The flags were put up last Thursday before the Veterans Day activities in Ottawa this past weeken . He saids six flags were stolen after the weekend. He also said someone lost a coin purse in City Park. The owner can reclaim it by asking for Rita at the Agler and Gaeddert accounting office in downtown Ottawa. The National Weather Service has issued a red flag warning for Franklin County for Wednesday because of the high winds and dry conditions.
