OTTAWA — An early Saturday morning fire caused serious damage to a mobile home at 814 S. Cherry St. The occupants were at home when the fire occurred, discovered it and fled, Fire Chief Jeff Carner said. When firefighters arrived, the fire was burning most of the home, he said. The fire caused an estimated $35,000 damage to the structure and the contents. The cause is under investigation, he said. Firefighters returned to the site about 12 hours later to deal with a small hot spot that was smoldering. There was no additional damage.
