OTTAWA — Wednesday night’s fire at 636 S. Locust caused an estimated $50,000 damage to the home and contents. The occupants were home at the time and discovered the fire and fled the house without injury, said Ottawa Fire Chief Jeff Carner. The fire started in the southwest corner of the home on the first floor, he said. The cause of the fire remains undetermined, he said. The Red Cross responded and helpd the occupants with their temporary needs, he said.
