OTTAWA — The author whose book is the subject of the “O-Town Reads” community event will visit Ottawa Tuesday night.  Ottawans have been reading Sharon Draper’s book ‘”Out of My Mind” about a girl with a disability.  “Eleven-year-old Melody has a photographic memory, she’s the smartest kid in her whole school – but no one knows it,” Draper said.  “If only she could speak up, but she can’t she can’t talk.  She can’t walk.  She can’t write.  She discovers something that will allow her to speak for the first time ever.  At last, Melody has a voice but not everyone around her is ready to hear it.”  Draper, who said she’ll answer questions and have an informal conversation with the public, will be at the Gangwish Library on Ottawa University campus at 7 p.m. Tuesday.  The public, including all ages, is welcome.  Light refreshments will be available.  Follow the O-Town Reads signs at OU to park and enter into the building.
