OTTAWA – A fire caused an estimated $30,000 damage to the home and contents of an Ottawa home Wednesday night.  The fire at 630 S. Hickory Street last night was discovered by a passerby, said Ottawa Fire Chief Jeff Carner.  The occupant was not home at the time of the incident, he said.  The fire started on the exterior of the home and spread upward and entered into the attic, he said.  The cause of the fire is still under investigation at this time, Carner said, although Ottawa police said the cause may be of suspicious origins. There were no injuries as a result of the incident.  Tthe American Red Cross responded to assist the occupant with his temporary needs, Carner said.
