KANSAS CITY — A 43-year-old Osawatomie woman will serve more than two years in federal prison for embezzlement. In November, Kimberly Joyce Padgett pleaded guilty to five counts of wire fraud and admitted she stole $471,000 from her employer, Reliant Financial Services in Kansas City, Mo., over an eight-year period. While she a bookkeeper for Reliant, she wrote $350,000 in checks to herself and deposited those funds into her personal PayPal account and her husband’s bank account. Padgett used the PayPal account to pay for trips for herself and others. She also used a company credit card to buy clothing, jewelry, gasoline, vacations, hotels and restaurants.
