EMPORIA — An Emporia woman was sentenced to a year in the Lyon County jail after a killing an Ottawa bicyclist two miles west of Emporia more than two years ago. Jean Getten was convicted of vehicular homicide in the death of 51-year-old Ronald Kennedy of Ottawa. Getten was acquitted of involuntary manslaughter. She was driving a pickup that hit Kennedy on U.S. 50 after dark in October 2013.
