OLATHE — A Gardner teenager was injured Tuesday afternoon in a two-car crash on I-35 near Santa Fe Road in south Olathe. Ashlyn Prom, 16, Gardner, and Amy Jo Hammack, 20, Paola, were both driving north in the left lane of I-35 just north of Santa Fe Road when Hammack slammed on her breaks to avoid hitting a car in front of her, the Kansas Highway Patrol said. Prom swerved to miss Hammack’s car but hit the guard rail and then hit her car any way. Neither driver was injured. However, a passenger in Prom’s car, Kayla Haff, 15, Gardner, was taken to Olathe Medical Center. The highway patrol said they were all wearing seat belts.
