OTTAWA — Ottawa city commissioners have honored Forest Park pool lifeguards who saved a five-year-old boy from drowning last month. The boy’s uncle went to check on another child and while he was away, the boy got into deep water, pool manager Brandy Shoemaker told commissioners. Following their training, the lifeguards dragged the boy out the pool and administered CPR, she said. The boy and his mother later returned to thank the pool staff, she said.
