GREAT BEND — The Ottawa Arrows won the American Legion AAA state championship the hard way, coming up through the losers’ bracket and beating Chanute 8-2 to win the title Sunday morning. Chanute dropped the Arrows into the losers’ bracket Friday night with a 9-3 win. On Saturday, Ottawa beat McPherson 3-0 and then shellacked Chanute 19-7 in the first championship game. The Arrows scored early and often in the final championship game. Pitcher Keegan Finch, who was shelled by Chanute Friday, stifled Chanute Sunday. The Arrows play Conway, Ark., in the regional tournament in Conway Wednesday.
