OTTAWA — There was no fire but lots of water Tuesday night at the Franklin County juvenile detention center. The Ottawa Fire Department was called to the center for a fire alarm but that was cancelled. The sheriff’s office said a 14-year-old Emporia girl damaged a fire-sprinkler head in her cell. After the alarm was cancelled, fire Capt. Shawn Dillon continued to the center to check on the situation, Fire Chief Tim Mathias said. The water was turned off and the sprinkler head was replaced, Mathias said. The sheriff’s office said the girl was charged for criminal damage to property.
