OTTAWA — Ottawa’s Veterans Day celebration begins Friday at City Park. The annual Field of Flags, a display of nearly 700 flags honoring area veterans, will be installed in the park, said Roy Dunn, a member of the Veterans Day committee. A veterans’ exhibit begins Friday at the Carnegie Cultural Center, and goes through Nove. 14. A reception is 5 p.m. Friday at the Carnegie before the kick-off event 6:30 p.m. at the Ottawa Municipal Auditorium. The parade down Main Street is Saturday morning at 10:45 and ending at Forest Park. About 200 units are planned to be in the parade, Dunn said. Following the parade, a series historical re-enactments of the Civil War and World War II will be Saturday afternoon in Forest Park.
