LYNDON — The Osage County Sheriff’s Office and the Osage City Police Department are asking for help with a spate of vehicle thefts.  About eight vehicles have been stolen since the middle of last week, Osage County Sheriff Laurie Dunn said.  There were two attempted thefts this morning:  A 1989 Ford flatbed, blue with rust color, bearing Kansas license plate 303ETM was taken from the area of 201st and Urish roads in Osage City.  A stolen vehicle from Topeka was found nearby.  The other attempted theft occurred along 125th Street northwest of Carbondale.  On Monday morning, a 1984-1985 gray Chevy truck with an expired tag was stolen from the 800 block of 125th Street.  In the last week, numerous vehicles have been taken in or around Osage City, Lyndon, Lebo, Vassar and Carbondale area.   All vehicles but the two trucks have been recovered, Dunn said.  However, one of the stolen vehicles had a handgun and that gun has not been recovered, she said.  At this time the suspects in these vehicle burglaries and theft should be considered armed and dangerous, she said.   A  white man has been seen in the areas where the thefts occurred, she said.   Dunn that anyone who sees suspicious activity to contact the Sheriff’s Office at 785-828-3121 or 911 immediately or Osage County Crimestoppers at 1-877-OSCRIME.  She also asks everyone to lock their vehicles and remove valuables.
