LYNDON — Two women were hauled to the Osage County jail in connection with an interrupted burglary near Carbondale late Sunday night. A resident returned to his home in the 3000 block of East 137th Street and found two women inside of his home trying to remove property, Sheriff Laurie Dunn said. As the women fled, the resident called 911 and described the women and their vehicle to dispatchers. Within four minutes of the 911 call, an Osage County deputy spotted a vehicle matching the description and stopped it at 137th Street and South California Road. The two women were taken into custody, Dunn said. Jaime Lee Cowan, 36, Topeka; and Laura Ann Barnhart, 31, Hiawatha; were booked into the jail on suspicion of aggravated burglary. Barnhart was also charged with interference with law enforcement after giving a false name. Cowan has been released on a $10,000 bond. Barnhart remained in jail earlier today.
