OTTAWA — Ottawa police and fire department arson investigators are conducting a joint investigation into the burglary and fires involving trucks owned by MBT Waste in the 200 block of North Main Street over the weekend. Someone broke into and damaged five vehicles owned by the business; and two were set on fire, said assistant police chief Adam Weingartner. The others sustained damage to electrical and fuel systems, he said. There is no immediate estimate of the total damage. The damage occurred sometime between 1 p.m. Saturday and 8 p.m., he said. Anyone with information is asked to call the Ottawa Police Department or Ottawa Fire Department at 242-1700 and ask to speak to an investigator. Police also received two reports of residential burglaries Sunday – in the 700 block of South Cherry and in the 1200 block of South Cedar. Several items were stolen in each break-in.
